I am a member of the Applied Numerical Algorithms Group in CRD. Before joining ANAG I was at the Flash Center for Computational Science, University of Chicago. My research during my entire career has been interdisciplinary, with emphasis on the use of High Performance Computing (HPC) for scientific applications. Over the past decade I have primarily been involved in architecting and developing the infrastructural capabilities of FLASH, a publicly available scientific simulation software package with multi-physics and AMR capabilities. In ANAG my current focus is on helping to position Chombo for working well on future architectures with their hyper-parallelism, hetergeneity and possibly high failure rates. I am also interested in promoting good software engineering, rigorous verification of massive scientific codes, awareness of the importance of software process and sociology of developing multiphysics community codes.
I received my PhD in Computer Science from Old Dominion University in 1993 and a B. Tech in Electrical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi in 1985. My post-doctoral work was done at the University of Chicago in Astronomy & Astrophysics under NASA's HPCC initiative.
